I recently fininshed the book The Ripper Diaries and in the end the author speaks about a taped conversation that was had with the wife of Mike Barrett, in which she states that the diary had belonged to her father, and her grandmother before her. She said that she gave the book to Mr. Deveroux so that her husband would not badger her father about the diary. As well the author of the book(The Ripper Diaries)said that their could possibly be a link between Florie Maybrick and the family of Mike Barrets wife, as her maiden name was Graham, and their was rumor of Florie being pregnant in Jail.
Has any new information regarding this confession been discoverd??

After reading about the diary I dreamed up my own theory about its origins. If I am not mistaken, tests indicated that it was probably drafted around the 1920's. Florence Maybrick would have been alive at the time, perhaps still in jail (???). In an effort to clear her name, a sympathetic party might have drafted the diary to cast a bad light on Mr. Maybrick. For whatever reason, it didn't surface at the time but turned up years later. Post Reply to Conference
